Welcome to Ruaha River Lodge

Located inside the Ruaha National Park, the lodge is one of the best retreats for wildlife watching in central Tanzania. Set on a rocky kopje on the edge of the Great Ruaha River, it is among few places with such prolific opportunity for game viewing. The vicinity is home to lion, elephant, antelopes, leopards, buffalos, and hippos and you have seemingly chance to catch hold of them anytime you venture into a wild odyssey.

The setting of Ruaha River Lodge is outstanding with rolling hills forming the backdrop. The lodge perched on the river edge is split into two parts – river and hilltop. The main reception area is a low open-sided thatched structure with makuti roof. Dotted with coffee tables and sofas, it is the place to unwind and enjoy the relaxing view of the river. It also hosts a restaurant and a bar.

The hilltop section of Ruaha River Lodge positioned on a cluster of rocks has 24 stone chalets. Individually set, each chalet is a distance from the other to ensure ample privacy and exclusivity. Covered with makuti roofs and the brick cottages are spacious and decorated with a typical African theme. Each one has a well-sized, private veranda.

Sandy, stone-lined pathways connect the chalets with each other and the main building. All have en-suite bathrooms with shower, comfy double, single, or triple beds, a sitting area, writing desk, and double basins. Built of stone, reed, and thatch, the rustic look endows chalets with perfect wild feeling.

There are separate dining and bar areas at Ruaha River Lodge. The in-house chefs prepare delicious local and continental cuisine from fresh local produces procured from the area. Enjoy local juices or bush-oven-baked bread. You too have the option of bush breakfasts and picnics. Meals are buffet meals with starter, main dish, desert and finally Coffee or tea. The lodge too has free parking, bar, and free Wi-Fi.
